Masterful Music: R.T. Legacy

To put it succinctly, Crossover is a “band” piece that I composed for orchestra. I took many of the expectations that I associate with new band music (such as mixed meter, an obvious tonal center, syncopated and aggressive rhythms and prominent melodies) and put them into an orchestral context. To me, the result is something that is very reminiscent of film music, which makes me wonder if many of today’s band composers are displaced film composers!
