Horizon Overture

Intended for younger bands, HORIZON will always be very special to me: it's the first piece of music I ever wrote. I composed it my senior year of high school, and my school band played it on my final band concert. The piece contains the excitement and joy of growing up and moving on, but also has the bittersweet feelings of saying goodbye to old friends.
I had the chance to revisit this piece last year and make some "tweaks." It was quite fun, and thoroughly enjoyed getting back to my compositional roots. I originally dedicated it to my senior class of Fenton High School, and the revised version is dedicated to Mr. Andy Burkemper and the Waubonsie Valley High School Gold Campus Concert Bands.
