Written for Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Bass, and Drums, the piece was an exercise in writing a piece in a short period of time. I composed it over the course of one long afternoon in a building at Northwestern affectionately called "the beehive," a small building of practice rooms with poor soundproofing. I had originally planned to write a series of "Beehive Etudes," but this is the only one I have at this point.
