Masterful Music: R.T. Legacy

Talking To Myself

(Solo Trombone, 2003)
I consider this one of more eclectic pieces because I was very concious of pitch construction and intervallic relationships, and combining this with elements of jazz and funk. The main motive is based on consecutive minor 2nds, and their major 7th inversions.

There are two tempi to this piece. The first is a fast, "groovy" and syncopated style, while the second is slow, lyrical, and a little bluesy. As the work draws to a conclusion, the two styles intermingle.
